As a popular college providing a huge variety of vocational courses and training to the people of Brighton, Hove and the surrounding areas, how do you ensure prospective students know about all the courses you have to offer?
The Challenge?
Brighton & Hove City College’s student success rates have seen them land the 14th place out of 234 colleges across the country – yet some of their courses were struggling to recruit. They needed to find a way to increase the enrollments for these courses whilst working with a limited budget. To get the most out of their money, they needed expertly-targeted advertising – cue the Natives.
What did Net Natives do?
City College’s target audience use Facebook every day, making it the perfect platform to promote the college’s courses. We knew the answer was targeted Facebook advertising campaigns, and we were able to use our know-how to ensure the right people saw the right ads for the right courses. For each of the target programmes, Net Natives designed multiple adverts with varying ad copy and images, so we could see which worked best and make sure they weren’t passed over by students who had seen the same ones again and again.
We individually researched the target audience for each course, so those who had registered an interest in dance on their profile started to see adverts for Jazz courses appear on their page, prompting a wave of ad views and responses. By targeting only those living in the Brighton area, the college also knew that all this new interest was shown by the students who would respond positively to the courses on offer.
The Result?
We monitored and edited each course campaign throughout its duration, maximising the effectiveness of the advertising and ensuring the college’s budget was spent purely on what we knew worked.
Our end-of-campaign report speaks for itself: over 11 million views and over 1,000 responses, making it their cheapest converted application process. We were able to demonstrate that Facebook users really do pay attention to what is promoted to them through their page, building the case for effective targeted advertising.
